In this enlightening episode, we dive deep into the heart of authentic leadership with our guest, Chris Meroff.

Chris wrote the book on authentic leadership.  That's not a metaphor, his next book is literally titled "Discovering the Heart of Authentic Leadership."

Chris is also a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of his first book,  Align: Four Simple Steps for Leaders to Create Employee Fulfillment. He wrote this book in 2019 to share with leaders the four simple steps that will transform the way you lead, renew your self-confidence and spark change. Align offers leaders to develop the courage to connect with their team in a meaningful way and start winning together. This led him to write his second book The Empathy Revolution: Practical Wisdom to Combat Organizational and Social Loneliness, where Chris shares his philosophy in a practical guide on why the current model of leadership isn’t working. He addresses that in order to retain employee talent and engagement, employees must grasp the vision and align with the values laid out from the top down.

Chris Meroff is a founder, author and serial entrepreneur with a passion for helping business professionals find fulfillment in their work through sustainable success.

We begin by exploring the true meaning of authenticity in leadership, understanding it as a relentless pursuit of truth and building relationships based on that truth. Chris shares insights on how to live by this truth, celebrating differences and worldviews without compromising values.

We then tackle the often tricky balance between a company's verbal advocacy for truth and its actual practices. Chris offers his perspective on maintaining tenacious goal achievement while staying true to one's values, and the limitations of a single individual's worldview; especially if that individual is the leader.

A significant part of our discussion focuses on defining oneself through a willingness to learn. We delve into common issues in workplace dynamics, such as the reasons behind disliking a boss, the breakdown of practices like diversity and respect, and the impact of bringing one’s authentic self to work.

Chris then guides us through the concept of the visionary leader. He elaborates on the balance between delivering a visionary message and managing the uncertainty it can create, emphasizing the importance of ownership and the need to slow down for effective vision casting.

The conversation takes a turn towards emotional intelligence with the 'empathy revolution'. Chris debunks myths about empathy and vulnerability, encouraging leaders to embrace these qualities. He emphasizes that our response to others is a reflection of how we show up, and changing our perception of others can transform our leadership style.

Join us in this compelling episode as we explore the multifaceted aspects of authentic leadership with Chris Meroff, and uncover the steps to become a visionary leader who champions truth, empathy, and authenticity.
